Description

In Death as a Way of Life, David Grossman, one of Israel's great fiction writers, addresses urgent questions regarding the middle east in a series of passionate essays and insightful articles.

Writing not only as one of his country's most respected novelists and commentators, but as a husband and father and peace activist bitterly disappointed in the leaders of both sides, Grossman asks: What went wrong after Oslo? How can Israelis and Palestinians make peace? How has the violence changed their lives, and their souls?

About the Author

David Grossman has received several international awards for his writing, including the Premio Grinzane and the Premio Mondelo for The Zigzag Kid. He is the author of several novels and children's books, and a play. He lives in Jerusalem with his wife and children.

Praise For…

“[Grossman's] essay collection Death as a Way of Life leaves [readers] with the sensation of having just stepped off a roller coaster. The wild ups and downs, the raised hopes and shattered dreams of the Israeli-Palestinian peace process over the past decade have been just that-- a stomach-churning roller coaster ride.” —San Francisco Chronicle

“As the chronicle of an activist author's journey to the edge of the abyss, and of his principled refusal to hurl himself into it, Death as a Way of Life brings to mind some words from Beckett: 'I can't go on. I'll go on.'” —Newsday
