Description

A young boy from south Georgia, growing up poor, joined the International Ironworkers union out of Atlanta, finished his three year of apprenticeship, becoming a journeyman ironworker. He impresses a Pittsburgh Engineering company so much they hire him in a supervisory position before he finishes his three year apprenticeship. The idea of a story about growing up in south Georgia, does little to include how strong his morals were ingrained in him by a father who worked hard all his life to support his family. A father who was born a bastard in an era when it was a family disgrace, who learned to read as part of Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal as an adult young man with three children from a teacher who came to his home in the evenings--stong roots here.

Waters works up and down the east coast of the United States and West Canada with Rust Engineers building smoke stacks. He has never had an IQ test, but his affinity for learning the work of this type of sophisticated and complex construction speaks volumes for his abilities. Not only is he smart, he is people smart, dealing with corrupt/crooked unions officials to trouble shooting problems even after smokestacks building come to a halt, continuing in the repair and maintenance problems associated with smokestacks and power plants making electricity. Benny Ralph Waters, Journeyman Ironworker, smokestack builder, and storyteller. Join him for a great ride through the workings of the powerful construction growth in the third quarter of the Twentieth Century, helping to provide the electricity needed for t
his growth.
