The tutorial examines the conceptual and methodological foundations of studying The Hunting Sketches by I.S. Turgenev in institutions of higher education. The objective of the book is to assist students in studying the series The Hunting Sketches, recommend the basic bibliography, help students to work independently when they prepare for the seminars or write a coursework and a diploma. The book contains the following sections: I. The problems of studying The Hunting Sketches cycle by I.S. Turgenev (attention is paid to ethical and religious problematics of the sketches, the image of a human and the ways of its description, the images of the natural world, the chronotope, and the question of Turgenev's idiostyle). The work is aimed at the formation and development of literary and linguistic knowledge and skills of students and contributes to the aesthetic development of their personality.
