Description

The Yarn Animal Book Series is based on the original hardbound book published in 1976 by Simon and Schuster. The author has taken each chapter and created a separate booklet dedicated to the particular yarn technique addressed in that chapter including all of the pertinent information and patterns for the delightful critters designed for that yarn technique. The author's goal is to provide more economical access to specific techniques and projects for the yarn crafter. What follows is the description from the jacket of the original book. Presenting a Marvelous Menagerie of Yarn Animals in Every Favorite Technique... Complete with diagrams, patterns and explicit how-to instructions, The Yarn Animal Book, is the most appealing, endearing collection of animal designs yet to be published, and the perfect introduction to popular needlework today. The animals are arranged by technique in six basic categories, a complete list is available online at www.carriestaples.com There are about 100 marvelous designs and variations presented. About the Author

When I was 7 my Uncle Roger taught me 2 of the most important lessons I have learned in my life: how to eat a whole lobster with my bare hands and how to make a balloon animal. When I was 9 my 91-year-old great grandmother taught me how to make yarn pompoms. She called them 'pompons' and when she was a kid they often tied pompons onto the toes of their ice skates. I broke my leg skiing when I was 15 and spent a week in a hospital in Vermont. That was when I figured out how to make my first yarn animal, a pompom poodle. It's like a balloon animal made out of yarn pompoms! The nurses in the hospital said squeezing my pompoms would be great exercise for people with hand injuries so I made lots of them for other people in the hospital. Simon & Schuster loved my yarn animals so they asked me to write a book about them when I was 30. It was very popular and was even a Book of the Month Club -Primary Selection. Based on many years of requests I re-published THE YARN ANIMAL BOOK, in digital format which is most likely how you are viewing it now. I still have hard copies of the original book which are also available at my website.
