Description

This book is about the mystery of God and the relationship between divine and human persons. It explores this theology by turning to the teaching of Juan de la Cruz on the mystical union with God and the analogue of sexual relationship that he uses to describe this union. Juan's mystical theology, which highlights the notion of God as lover and God's erotic-like relationship with human persons, provides a most fitting source to rethink the Christian doctrine of God, underscoring Juan's apophatic understanding of God as "un no's qu " ("I don't know what"). In accordance with the series objective to "disrupt" the cartography of theology, this book engages John of the Cross through "queer" eyes, opting to highlight with John and contemporary queer theologians the preferential option for the bedroom as a locus theologicus and human sexuality as an experience in daily living pregnant with possibilities for resourcing the Christian doctrine of God.
