Description

INTRODUCTION A society consist of a group of people who live together and are involved in persistent social interaction and share the same geographical or social territory, typically subject to the same political authority and dominant cultural expectations. Societies are characterized by patterns of relationships between individuals who share a distinctive culture and institutions and rely on each other for social and emotional well-being. It enables its members to benefit in ways that would not otherwise be possible on an individual basis; both individual and social benefits can thus be distinguished or found to overlap. A society can also consist of like-minded people governed by their own norms and values within a dominant or larger society. According to structuralism school of thought, a society may be made up of a varied collection of individuals. In this regard society can mean the objective relationships people have with the material world and with other people in a friendly civilized way. They develop functional independence, personal to social identity and hierarchical structures. There are many different types of societies which have developed around the world; which significantly differ from each other on the basis of culture, rules, morals, values, languages, dress and tradition. They also vary in terms of interaction with each other and other social groups. These social groups reside together and respect each other‟s cultural and social differences. These differences are vital for the long term survival of humanity as it enhances the chances of improved evolutionary inheritance. No society is perfect, but if one interacts with other societies then they can modify and improve their social patterns which would enhance the possibility of a healthier society. Interaction with different societies brings novel ideas and perceptions. It gives people chance to experience different things outside of what they experience on a regular basis.
