Life and death for two girls growing up in the dysfunctional worlds of their dads in the late 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s with broken identities, mental illness, sex, drugs, and violence that nearly changed the path of their young lives is the subject of this timeless, compelling, sad, and triumphant story.

One girl, though, would stand up to the spiritual darkness by relying on a passage of Scripture (Joshua 1-9) that her great grandmother had handed to her. It would take her 34 years to realise the importance of her decision to believe God's message, which spared her life and allowed her the strength to go back and assist her mother and close friend in leaving their poisonous conditions and leading the greatest lives possible.
