Description
✓In most cases, the pear is a deciduous tree (sheds its leaves seasonally) that can grow up to 40 feet (12 meters) in height or even more. Almost all pear trees grown for fruit are deciduous, but there are a few varieties (mostly ornamental) that are evergreen. The pear belongs to the Rosaceae family. Blooms in spring. Fruits ripen on shoots 2 years old or more. Ripen in late summer or autumn, depending on the variety. An average pear tree is capable of producing a noticeable amount of fruit in the 4th or 6th year of its age and can continue to bear fruit until the 30th or 40th year of its age.
